Thank you for your interest in applying for the Youth Leadership and Service Scholarship! This scholarship supports high school students (ages 19 and under) in participating in Bridges to Community service trips.
This scholarship provides financial assistance to help cover the trip fee and/or airfare. Funding is applied as a direct discount—no funds will be transferred between the awardee and the organization. The scholarship cannot be applied toward any project cost.
Scholarship Requirements
- Applicants must be nominated by a teacher, counselor, leader, or trip organizer to be eligible to apply.
- Applicants must be 19 years old or younger at the time of application.
- Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
- Applications must be submitted to info@bridgestocommunity.org at least 60 days before the scheduled trip date.
Application Materials
- Completed application form
- Letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, trip leader or organizer, or another supervising adult
- Essay or video essay explaining interest in the trip
Essay Details
Please answer the following prompt/questions stating your interest and future activities if you were to participate on a service trip to the Dominican Republic with Bridges to Community. Essays may be submitted via written essay (maximum 500 words) or by video submission (maximum 90 seconds). Please address to the following:
- Why is community service important to you?
- Why do you want to participate in a Bridges to Community service trip?
- After returning home, how will you share your experience to help sustain our mission?
Any materials submitted will belong to Bridges to Community and may be used for future promotions and publications. Scholarship winners will be notified at least 45 days before the scheduled trip date.
