High School & College

Starting with Dartmouth College in 2002, Bridges to Community currently sends more than 15 school based trips a year, changing the lives and perspectives of teens and young adults for over 15 years. Public and private high schools have been a mainstay of our volunteer efforts for years, and we are proud of our association with some of the finest secondary schools in the country.

Opportunities to work in a developing country while still in high school provide a critical knowledge base for many teens before they make their college selection. Teachers and Guidance professionals are encouraged to contact Bridges as to how to organize and bring a group to Nicaragua or the Dominican Republic. Call us today at 914-923-2200.

At the next level, Bridges to Community offers Service Learning trips based upon using an experiential model or academically focused trips based on current curriculum content. Bridges to Community now hosts trips focusing on the areas of Alternative Break, Engineering and Medicine. Many of these college programs have been started by our high school age alumni excited to bring their Bridges experience to the college level. Bridges to Community hosts everything from student led trips such as the one at Cornell University, to the university led Alternative Break trip organized by the University of Delaware.

We frequently have upcoming Alternative Break and college level trips which you can join in case your school does not currently sponsor one. Contact Rusty Pedersen, Vice President of Volunteer Services at 914-923-2200 or e-mail Rusty at: rusty.pedersen@bridgestocommunity.org to discuss your opportunities with Bridges to Community.
