Bridges to Community

Help us Raise Money for Microloans in the Dominican Republic!

My name is Sophie Halliley. I am a sophomore at Mamaroneck High School and the 2026 Youth Deacon at Larchmont Avenue Church. Along with my brothers, I traveled to the Dominican Republic with Bridges to Community in 2025, and we are scheduled to return again. That experience had a lasting impact on us and deepened our connection to this work.

Bridges to Community is growing its microfinance fund to support families as they build sustainable livelihoods, and my brothers and I are excited to help make that possible. We are reaching out to families in our community to share the mission of Bridges and invite them to be part of this effort.

Our goal is to raise $3,000 to support this fund. We truly believe in the work Bridges to Community is doing and are grateful for the chance to play a small role in creating meaningful, long-term change. Thank you for supporting this work and for being part of this journey with us.

About the Loan Program

Microloans provide capital for local families in the Dominican Republic to build sustainable livelihoods. Because many families lack access to credit through traditional sources like bank loans, this fund helps them start small businesses, improve and expand their farms, and support long-term financial stability by creating opportunities for underresourced families to thrive.

    • Loans are usually small ($50-100)
    • Microfinance primarily serves women
    • Women primarily focus on families and communities
    • Repayment rates for microfinance loans are 95-99%
    • One loan can change an entire family’s future
