Sustainable Economic Growth in Nicaragua: Coffee, Conservation, and Community
Participants on this Fair Trade Trip will travel to the mountainous north of the country where they will use coffee as a lens for understanding fair trade and how it works. They will see the coffee production process from harvesting, to cultivating, to processing, to shipping, and be able to ask questions and speak with representatives at each step. They will learn about how communities are combating deforestation and climate change. In addition, participants will experience the culture of Nicaragua, from the food to the arts, and more.
As in all Bridges to Community trips, the focus will be on true service learning, affording participants and Nicaraguans the chance to learn, grow, and thrive from the experience.
