On June 22nd, the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health officially inaugurated and took ownership of the Hormiguero Regional Health Clinic – a project Bridges has been working on since 2017. After the ceremony, specialists, including gynecologists, dentists, nutritionists, and pediatricians, treated patients in the new facility.
Over the last 5 months, Bridges installed cabinets, completed landscaping and fencing, and other finishing touches that were delayed by the political unrest last year. The Ministry of Health was able to procure hospital beds, oxygen tanks, blood pressure cuffs, and many more necessary items donated through various non-profits.
We are thrilled to see this project to completion despite the recent challenges in Nicaragua. Thank you to everyone who made this regional health clinic a reality! A special thank you to our sponsor Building Goodness Foundation, generous donors, Bridges staff, the community who provided volunteer labor and donated the plot of land for the clinic, and the Siuna Municipal Council who provided us with machinery to level the land.
