Bridges Board Visits Nicaragua
This October, ten members of Bridges to Community's Board of Directors traveled together to Nicaragua to meet with the staff, our community partners, and to get first-hand updates on our current projects.
The week consisted of a guided tour of projects (past and present) in the communities of Masaya, Nindiri, and Ticuantepe. And although they did not have time to travel to Siuna, the Siuna staff came to Managua to discuss our ongoing work in the North Atlantic Autonomous Region. During the week, the board learned more about the intricacies of our community organizing and development. There were lots of questions, and also lots of excitement, as the board members saw the results of their leadership.
Board Chair Bart Tyler said, "The board meeting in Nicaragua was a dream come true. Most of our board have volunteered in the country before but have not had the opportunity to see all of the organization's programs." He added, "During this visit they were better able to grasp the depth and breadth of the important work that Bridges does there."
